Lines From Linda

Reminiscing: 120th Westminster Week 1996 BY LINDA AYERS TURNER KNORR

T here’s something very comforting about being sur- rounded by years of family collections and trea- sures. For me they conjure up memories of magical moments and bring me great joy. Now as I am winding down transitioning from three homes to one, decisions are challeng- ing about what to keep, what

the Grand Hyatt Hotel, more from The Plaza Hotel, Tavern on the Green and finally the Fido Awards at Sardis. I love photos all taken by a real camera, not the kind shot on our IPhones. These we can hold in our hands, place in lovely picture frames and albums, and mail to friends in cards and letters. A mahogany secretary contained these little 4 x 6 treasures. I had planned to remove it giving up the space to a more favored piece of furniture. I’m glad it snowed, slowing down my moving process. The decision is made. A place will definitely be found to keep these printed memories! Maybe the old piece of furni- ture deserves to stay!

Snow has shut down my southern city of Greenville, South Carolina today. The Estate Sale team cannot be here today as planned. So I find myself reminiscing as I just pulled out some old photos from Westminster week events in New York. Take a trip down memory lane through a few of the pho- tos snapped during the week of events surrounding the Feb- ruary, 1996 120th Westminster Dog Show. Included are pic- tures from Quaker Oats Show Dog of the Year Awards held at
