Both events are always a huge suc- cess with a large, happy throng learning more about us and our breeds than they can ever find online or in books. This hands- on approach to public education is one of AKC’s most success- ful—and to my mind, impor- tant—intitiatives and I’m always proud to play a small part in this amazing production. This was the eighth such event and it broke all previous records. AKC’s MEET THE BREEDS® is held twice a year; at Westminster in New York in February as we see here, and at The National Championship in

Each year an impressive panel of dog show experts evaluates every booth and chooses four winners in each Variety Group, with one going on to BEST IN SHOW just as at a regular dog show. Awards are displayed shortly after the voting is tabulated. This year, in addition, we offered the PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD where the general public got to choose their favorite, too. >
