NOW MALABO APD IS MORE THAN JUST A DREAM.

LOCATED ON A FARM IN THE STATE OF SAO PAULO with nearly 100 acres of land, state of the art facilities, and vets (including cardiologists, dentists, and anesthesiolo- gists), there were no expenses spared in making sure that every dog at Malabo APD would be well cared-for. These facilities include an operating room, treadmills, open fields for running, and even pools especially for the dogs. Diniz and her staff’s love for every single one of their dogs has led to them to dedicate their lives to the kennel. Currently, 340 dogs call Malabo APD their home. In the past five years Malabo APD’s dogs have won the Westminster Best of Breed Award four times. These Malabo APD champions include Multi Bis Winner Grand Champion Raquel Welch of Malabo APD (2014), Bis Winner Grand Champion Robert Redford of Malabo APD (2016), Multi Group Winner Grand Champion Eva of Malabo APD (2017), and Multi Group Winner Ch Ina Balin (2018). That is not to say that everything has been smooth sail- ing for Malabo APD. Though Diniz’s resources have al- lowed her to provide a lot for her dogs so that they could live long and happy lives, it has also been the source of

great criticism against her and the kennel. Many people have accused Malabo APD of being just a rich girl’s hobby, and that Diniz doesn’t take her work very seriously. Though these comments have always been hurtful, Diniz has overcome this obstacle by pouring her heart and soul into Malabo APD. Nothing shows this better than the changes that Malabo APD has been undergoing in the past year. After a decade active, it became clear to Diniz and the rest of the staff that something was wrong. They started to notice that certain bloodlines at Malabo APD were showing higher incidents of cancer than others. This is when the kennel’s mission started to shift from celebrating the Rhodesian Ridgeback to finding ways to improve their health so they could live longer and healthier lives. While health was always a priority, after noticing these patterns those at Malabo APD started to work hard towards understanding the components that could be causing these problems. They used that understanding to try and dis- cover possible solutions. Genetic research and study be- came their focus. >
