trail running. In order to earn a living to pay for dogs and everything else, I work at the Greenville Health System and write physician employment/compensation contracts. I grew up with Scotties and my parents got their first show dog in 1981. I tagged along to many the shows and went in the ring a couple times as a child, but I never participated in Juniors. It wasn’t until after college that I decided it was
I live in Hamden, New York—a small town with my house on 40 acres that is on top of one of the highest points in the county. I work for the largest rural health- care and hospital group in New York State. I work with several RN case manag- ers in development of a high risk patient program designed to reduce readmis- sions. I started in 1975 with a pet Scottish Terrier, then imported several from some of the top breeders in Scotland. I started judging in 1993. FRED STEPHENS I am retired in Oregon. I have over fifty years of owning and showing with 39 years of judging. MERLE TAYLOR
something I wanted to do and my folks gave me my first dog, a National Specialty winner to campaign and special. I was awed. Several years later, I moved to Greenville to be near my folks and started attending and showing every weekend with them. Since then, it has been a wonderful partnership and I am proud to be second generation Charthill. To date we have finished over 200 champions. In 2012, I became approved to judge Scotties and now am currently working on getting approvals for other Terriers. MARETH KIPP I live on a dairy farm in Southeastern Wisconsin near the town of North Prairie. I currently volunteer at our area hospital in the Recovery Room. I love to read as well as knit and cross stitch. I have been in dogs almost 50 years. I found the catalog from the first show we showed our Airedale at; it was January, 1968. I received my first judging approval on March 1, 1982. What a ride! RICHARD MILLER
I live in central Illinois and formerly taught business in a public high school for 38 years until retiring in 2007. I now work part-time in a financial planning office. I attended my first dog show as a spectator while in college; my wife, Caro- lyn, and I got involved in an obedience club with the purchase of our first dog, a German Shepherd. We met several peo-
ple who competed in conformation, got our second dog, a Scottie, and began showing in 1970. I developed a passion for dog shows, worked for a professional handler on weekends and eventually became one until I began judging in 2000.
I live in a very rural part of west cen- tral Illinois. My town of 1,400 persons is among soy bean fields, corn fields and only 12 miles from the Mississippi Riv- er. I am retired. In the summer I am an avid gardener and I maintain a koi pond. During the winter months, I work with stained glass lots and do some substitute teaching. I purchased my first AKC regis-
