I am approved for BIS, Sport- ing group, Hound group, Herding group, Non Sporting group, Miscellaneous and Junior Showmanship. I served as the Gazette columnist for many years for the American Chesapeake Club, I founded the National Capi- tal Chesapeake Bay Retriever Club and I serve as the Show Chairman and Vice President of the Chesapeake Kennel Club of Maryland. I have also been a member of numerous other clubs through the years. I continue to fulfill my aspirations as I study other breeds to judge. BETSY HORN HUMER

hunting tests Junior level and have judged other field events for retrievers. I am approved to judge all AKC Sporting breeds and BIS. In 2015, I judged at the Westminster Kennel Club. For the American Chesapeake Club I have served in numerous positions—historian, club secretary, chair of Judg- es Education, Judges Education Coordinator, member of the Standard Committee 1993 revision and AKC Delegate. EDITH HANSON We currently live in Phoenix, Arizona, but when we were actively breeding, hunting and showing Chesapeakes, we were in the Bay Area of Northern California. I work in a phar- macy full time. Dogs, work and three grandchildren take up all my time! I have been showing dogs since I was 13 years old—over 50 years! My breed was Afghan Hounds and I mar- ried into Chesapeakes. My husband had two Champions when I met him some 40 years ago. We actively bred and showed Chesapeakes for about 20 years. All our champions also had hunting titles, including the Best In Show winner. I have been judging almost 25 years. I believe I was the first breeder judge to judge the National (at least in modern times).

For 16 years we have been located on a tidal creek going out to the Chesa- peake Bay on the eastern shore of Vir- ginia. I play a little tennis and garden in the spring and summer. We also spend time with our grandchildren in NJ, NC and CT—a total of seven. I was 5 years old when my parents bought our first Chesapeake. I started showing in Chil-

dren’s Handling (conformation) and then earned a CD title in 1958. I’ve trained and handled all of our dogs in confor- mation, obedience and rally, agility, tracking and fieldwork. I still train my own dogs. I have been judging conforma- tion since 1988 and obedience since 1993. Eastern Waters’ was established in 1947 by my parents. We are continuing to breed dogs with titles are both ends. We currently have four Chesapeakes that live with us, and I continue to train an obedience class for my local kennel club. We are currently running a dog in hunt tests. Yes, I am still breeding, usually one litter a year. 1. Describe the breed in three words. I live in Key Largo, Florida and visit often Maryland. Outside of dogs I enjoy my family and grandkids as well as beaches, dining and dancing. I am a sec- ond generation dog fancier, so I’ve been involved in the dog world my entire life. However, I’ve been seriously showing for 39 years and judging for 29 years. My

parents Dr. and Mrs. Daniel Horn founded Eastern Waters and bred well over 100 Champions as well as making a mark for the breed at the group level. I have continued the effort, campaigned several good dogs and achieved BIS four times with three different dogs. I have always been a breeder owner handler and I have won several
