SHOW CHAIRS NEVER SIT

8. How are your show(s)/cluster promoted? TV? Radio? Print Media? Social Media? These shows are promoted on social media, and sometimes through printed ads in dog publications. 9. What are some of the challenges that you’ve had to face as show/cluster chair? In 2021, our cluster was cancelled by the facility—only two days before we were to start setting up the show—due to the hard freeze in Texas a week before our shows. The water pipes froze, and the arena floor was flooded. The biggest challenge was notifying everyone to stay home. This was the first time we had to cancel an event. 10. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, what have you and your club members learned about putting on a dog show? What, if any, are the differences from previous years and how are you planning for the future? Like most clubs holding events during the COVID pandemic, we bought dis- infectant, masks, supplies, and extra signs that we normally would not have to provide. And like most places, there were a few people who loudly complained about almost everything related to COVID. Obviously, these people do not belong to a club and help to set up an event or work an event. Other- wise, they would be grateful to clubs for hosting events.

ABOUT TIMOTHY ROBBINS Timothy (Tim) Robbins bred his first litter of AKC registered Dalmatians in 1968, and finished his first homebred champion, owner- handled, in 1970. At about the same time, the Baytown Kennel Club was being formed, and Tim became a club member in 1968. He is still a member today. Tim has been club

President and the Show Chairman for the past 10 years. Tim graduated in 1971 from the University of Houston, and eventually landed a job with ExxonMobil Chemicals where he worked for 32 years before retirement. During all those years, Tim continued to breed Dalmatians. One is his liver females became the top-producing Dalmatian dam in breed history, with 18 AKC champion get to her credit. In 1990, Tim started judging. He was originally approved for five breeds; Dalmatians, Keeshonden, IGs, Pomeranians, and Lhasa Apsos. He is now approved to judge the Hound, Toy, and Non-Sporting Groups, plus a few Working breeds.
