Unforgettable: Kathryn Lee Borg Emery (November 29, 1956 - October 7, 2018) BY LINDA AYERS TURNER KNORR

E x t r a o r - d i n a r y in every s e n s e , Kathy Emery was a true asset to our dog world family. On October 7, 2018 her long battle with cancer ended. Surrounded by family and friends, she passed away in the arms of her beloved husband of 39 years, Dr. Robert W. Emery, III (known to all as RW).

Emery’s bold artwork is sought after and treasured.

Friends who knew Kathy were in awe of her courage during the years since she was first stricken. Even in the worst of times, Kathy was beautiful. She could still flash her big gor- geous smile that no one will ever forget. Her enthusiasm was legendary. Kathy never did anything halfway. She was known for her sen- sitive soul. Kathy would gently nurse an injured bird and hap- pily share most of the sofa with her beautiful Newfoundlands that outweighed her. A gifted artist, Emery majored in applied design and painting at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, and did further study in paint- ing and drawing at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC. She painted for the sheer love of it and much of her art was displayed in her home in McLean, Virginia. Her works were included in juried shows and were sought after by many clients who valued her paintings and especially her portraiture. Perhaps her most treasured and meaningful works are the ones she ultimately bequeathed to those who loved and stood by her until the end. Art was only one of Kathy’s many talents and interests. She was a partner in the develop- ment of her husband’s top rated practice, the Capital Center for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Kathy and RW shared an intense
