Tamarin Prefix. My life outside of dogs is as busy as it is in dogs. I do my best to stay in close touch with my siblings, children and grandchildren who live in Minnesota. Addition- ally, we love to attend the Durham Bulls games, the North Carolina Symphony and the Duke Performing Arts Center. I’ve been involved in purebred dogs since over 50 years ago, starting with Pomeranians where my lifetime commitment to the sport began as an exhibitor and breeder. As a professional handler, my accomplishments were affirmed by my peers who voted me as the top female profes- sional handler in the US in 1987. I am credited with the man- agement of the successful breeding programs of several of my clients including the Maltese who won the WKC Toy Group in 1996 and his father whom I piloted to the top Toy Dog at the AKC Centennial show in 1984. I began my judging career in 1995 and have judged many National Specialties and most of the Premier shows in the US in addition to others in Canada, Europe, Asia, South America, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Finland and Scotland. I am approved to judge BIS, all Toy, Non- Sporting, Herding, Hound, Terrier, Sporting and seven of the Working Dogs. MAJORIE UNDERWOOD ties. I enjoy life at home with my husband, our dogs and the 18-year-old cat. After researching several pure bred breeds, I became captivated by the West Highland White Terrier. The Westie was the answer to all of my requirements for a canine companion. I could not resist that face, the toughness, atti- tude and the overall appearance. In 1972, I thought my passion for the breed was fulfilled when MarWood’s Lady Heatherton came into my life, but time has shown it was only the beginning of a lifelong love and devotion. After 18 to 20 years as an exhibitor, I began judg- ing in 1990. At the present time I judge the Terrier Group, Toy Group, Non Sporting Group, BIS, Miscellaneous Group and Juniors. Also, as I study the Sporting breeds I judge ten Spaniel breeds. The world of pure bred dogs has taken me to almost every state in the union including Hawaii, then on to Australia, New Zealand, Canada and China. RANDY WECKMAN I starting showing Westies 50 years ago and have been judging over 15 years. Living in Cincinnati, Ohio, there is always something to do if you so desire. There really is a good life outside of the dog world. Whenever possible I enjoy traveling (during college I interviewed to be an airline stewardess). I am a member of the Cincinnati Woman’s Club which offers many activities. Of course, there are family gatherings and responsibili-

I have a PhD. in Chemistry from the University of Notre Dame. I also found and head The Coalition for Science Lit- eracy at the University of South Florida, which works to improve science teaching methods from elementary school through college. I’m on the Westie Judges Educa- tion Committee for the WHWTCA and serve on the board of directors of the

club. I’m also an AKC delegate for the St. Petersburg Dog Fan- ciers Association. My wife and I live in a small, semi-rural community about 12 miles from Tampa city center and eight miles from the sprawling campus of the University of South Florida, where I work. We live in six partially wooded acres and live primarily for our dogs. One of the things I most val- ue about showing dogs is all the wonderful friendships we have made through the years from coast to coast and around the world. We acquired our first show Westie in 1959 from Barbara Keenan. Our first dog was a daughter Ch. Elfinbrook Simon, a Westminster BIS winner. We have shown Westies continuously for the last 57 years, making over 50 champions and having many number one and top ten Westies. I began judging in 1972 and I judge all Terriers and Best in Show.
