Sarge was our first show dog. We had never even watched a dog show. Sarge’s breeder just told us they would like him shown and we said, “Ok, just let us know what to do.” And so our adventure began.
He loved the show ring. He had that “look at me” attitude. Such beautiful side gait, would float around the ring and on the line, he was the one that would catch your eye. He could be such a total clown sometimes with his antics, but that just showed you how much fun he was having. It was his job and he did it with perfection. He earned the name “Big Dog” Sarge retired in 2012 after being #1 Breed 2010-2012, #2 All Breed 2010-2011 & #3 All Breed 2012. He came back out in 2015 as a 7 year old veteran and was #3 breed & #4 all breed. Then in 2019 at almost 12 years old, he was Best Veteran & AOM at the SCLA Specialty in Indio under judge Debra Thorton, who awarded him WD/BOW at 6 mos old. Sarge sired 41 kids and 21 of those achieved their AKC championship. 6 grandkids from our kennel have gotten their AKC championship and one is a Best in Show winner. So Big Dog, you changed our lives so much and took us down a path that we never imagined in our wildest dreams. You were one of a kind. As his favorite groomer and handler as a veteran, Karen Bruneau said, “Run free Big Dog. Tell them up there you wanna go to a dog show…..I’m sure we’ll hear you down here.”
