Showsight - August 2021

A M E S S A G E F R OM T H E P U B L I S H E R

FRIENDS,

Only three months of shows remain for 2021! Aren’t they going to be some of the busiest and most exciting months we’ve ever experienced? I think, yes! When I saw the list of All-Breed and Specialty Shows that are happening between now and end of the year, I was left speechless. But then I said to myself, “Oh my, here is my Pub- lisher’s Message for this month!” I think all of us are just so proud and happy to have turned this year around full-circle and made 2021 a huge success for the dog show community. Now, once again, many of us will be spending time at shows with family and friends over the holidays, reflecting on life, and looking ahead to next year. For exhibitors, the last few months of 2021 will be the most crucial. Everyone wants to finish strong before retiring their special or build momentum for 2022—including the fast-approaching Westminster. I never use my Publisher’s Message to sell advertisements, so please excuse me for men- tioning it now. If you are looking to finish the year strong, now is the time to think about your next ad. Meegan, Ryan, and myself (together with the rest of our team) will be work- ing for you around the clock. Just give us a call, send us a text message or email us. We will help you by creating memories! After all, we don’t just design ads, we work with you to create effective campaigns that help you achieve your goals. Okay… Now that I got a little sidetracked by mentioning advertising, let’s continue… There are many National Specialties remaining this year, and many spectacular all- breed shows to come, including Morris & Essex, the National Dog Show, and the AKC National Championship. I can’t forget to also mention the most impressive Terrier Group Show in the World: Montgomery County Kennel Club. Each of these celebrated events is rich in dog show history. Together with their sponsors, each of these clubs does such a phenomenal job of providing a happy and safe environment for the fancy to come together to compete and have a good time. One of the things that I appreciate most about these shows is that they work extremely hard to promote preservation purebred dog breeders (and purebred dogs in general) to the millions of people who haven’t heard about our sport or own a purebred dog. The National Dog Show is televised on Thanksgiving Day and the AKC National Championship is promoted through various media outlets over the holiday season. What a blessing for all of us. We’d like to think that our magazine has had something to do with the growth of our sport—and this is all thanks to you. As I reflect over the past 12 years since joining SHOWSIGHT , I can’t help but feel very blessed myself. I’ve been blessed to have been given the opportunity to serve you and I’ve been blessed to be surrounded by so many passionate people who just want to do well for our community. I’m also blessed by having the privilege to consider so many clients to be my good friends. This (and a vision to build a truly International Preservation Purebred Dog Channel) prompted me to purchase SHOWSIGHT from Doll-McGinnis Publica- tions in 2017. Today, I’ve never been clearer about what I want and will do; this is not just about working to protect our community, but also to grow it! And now, the first of five steps has just been completed–the launch of a BREED MAGAZINE for every single AKC Registered Breed. These digital publications will be used to help educate millions who are interested in welcoming a beautiful purebred puppy into their family as well as those who are looking to compete in AKC Conformation, Performance, and Companion Events. Please visit pages 227, 228 & 229 in this issue to read the Press Release that gives all the details on this project. Thank you to all our clients, readers, employees, and industry associates. May you all enjoy the many blessings of the coming season.

Yours Faithfully,

AJ ARAPOVIC, OWNER & PUBLISHER
